Tears as Patrick is mourned

IT WAS a solemn, touching and heart-rending affair at the junction of Welchman Hall Main Road and Second Avenue, Welchman Hall, St Thomas, yesterday.
More than 80 cyclists – some of them female riders – plus family, friends and curious onlookers gathered on the spot to remember the life of 47-year-old Patrick Thompson, killed there on October 28 when the motorcycle he was riding was in a collision with a lorry.
Patrick’s mother Harriet Thompson, calling her son an “angel”, thanked everyone for coming and reflecting on his life.
“He was a walking angel – very kind-hearted; and even though he is gone, we will see him again one good day. I am grateful so many have loved and cared for him; and we will remember all the things he did with us and for us,” she said. (CA)
