THE?BURGEONING?St Philip South constituency has exceeded the constitutionally mandated range for the maximum number of voters by more than 800.
But the bipartisan Electoral and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has recommended against changing the number and boundaries of the 30 existing constituencies into which Barbados is divided and create a fourth seat for the parish.
According to the EBC’s sixth report just laid in the House of Assembly, which is based on the last official Register of Electors list published on January 31, St Philip South had 831 more voters than the maximum allowed.
The five-member EBC, which is chaired by the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP), noted that the list contained 243 363 electors. (AB)
