What’s Trending:Husband charged

Tue, May 01, 2012 - 3:57 PM

The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending today in Barbados.

When readers heard the news today that Sean Watson, the 35-year-old estranged husband of Nicole Harrison-Watson was charged in connection with her gruesome killing, our readers started to quickly post comments.

Watson, of Bannantyne, will appear in the District A, Magistrates' Court tomorrow, charged with serious bodily harm of the 37-year-old former employee of the Urban Development Commission.

Harrison-Watson was found dead in her Ferniehurst home last Saturday. She was half naked, her hands were tied and mouth was covered.

This is what some had to say about this new development.

Julia Moseley: ”Why the charge is only grievous bodily harm and not murder, I wonder.”

Andrea Palmer Burgin: “Sad state of affairs.”

Nicole Griffith: “I think that after the autopsy is done it is likely that the charge will be upgraded.”

Charmaine N Walters: “Good. Hope justice is served.”

I was hoping that it was some random stranger, not a man that supposedly once loved her.
His senseless, selfish and brutal act not only robbed her of her life, but also robbed her child/children, her mother, friends... etc.
What he did was unfair and extremely wicked. Whatever happens to him, happens to him, he will get no sympathy from me,

Quick end to stage1. Thanks RBPF. Now justice demands more than a slap on the wrist.

my deepest sympathies to the family.may her spirit live on in her offspring. it was reported that the husband was being questioned as a possible suspect. first this guy was charged with a lesser offence, then the murder charge after he attempted to commit suicide.it was reported that he was arrested after receiving treatment for self inflicted wounds, there is something missing here.@pan wallie. i am not so sure that the rbpf did such a great job here....

@ Wayne Husbands: do you mean they did not do a great job? Or do you mean given the circumstances the job was easy? I thank them for arresting him as quickly as their did. He could have disappeared from our shores, or he could have taken the shorter route of 'outing his own light', which would have been too easy a solution. Besides, who knows what his mindset might have been regarding others. Now he has to live to tell the tale and face the consequences of his stupidity. And please Wayne, help encourage our RBPF, every small gamut of our and our families safety is dependent on them.

You all really don't want to know what this man put this woman through before he killed her (I found out tonight). When I heard, I went cold. These are not human acts. I am at a loss for words.

@pan wallie. as you may have realized, the essence of my statement was lost in the edit,i totally agree with you, except for one thing. and i must say that i am not privilidged to the full story. but the subject of my comment was to point out that if he was being questioned before he attempted suicide ,he shouldv'e been held in protective custody under consequences of harm to self or others. and yes the consequences could have been worse had he became a fugitive. respect and honour to the RBPF. MY QUESTION WAS WOULD HE HAVE GOTTEN THE PUNISHMENT HE DESERVED IF HE WAS SUCCESSFUL IN HIS SUICIDE ATTEMPT? if an apology is in order i sincerly do such to anyone that i may have faltered
