Sex: church-wise and worldwide

Sex before and outside marriage have become a hotly debated moral issue ever since the startling declaration of a “man of the cloth” that premarital intercourse is okay. This priest was not exactly keen to buy a pig in a poke.
For the most part, though, it is believed by the church that premarital and extramarital sex are a sin. But it is known there’s much hypocrisy about this. The Catholic Church worldwide has had its challenges, with some of its priests being accused of unseemly sexual behaviour, including paedophilia.
There’s much sex in the world outside marriage, and not limited any of the above. Sex sells big in business advertising and prostitution. Fornication and adultery are ubiquitous; hence the staggering figures for HIV/AIDS. We are all here because of sex, but within the last 30 years, many of us have been taken away because of sex.
If God of The Bible sanctioned premarital sex, why then would He punish for it, with disease and even death?
