Strange things happening these days

I don’t know if we will get a State Of The Union message this silly season, as whatever happens in the United States happens here sooner or later.
Right now, I am concerned that young voters are being wooed by the use of music. I hope the whole thing is not just a bacchanal and that they vote according to the issues and not just based on the musical performances.
That I received my letter of February 1, on February 9, telling me by February 6, I must give notice of changes re my voter registration is not surprising. Everything is strange these days – utility notices arriving on the days of the discount dates, receipts from cashiers so faint they can’t be read.
I suppose that the poor sick person who travels from St Thomas daily to the Eagle Hall Market to crawl around, (It Matters To Maria, February 8, good column but lacks follow-up to outcome) will get relief as voting is in the offing.
Some politician will come to her rescue and make a grand show of it. Makes me wonder where these officials are all the time when people need help. They must be getting reports, but react only when the Press puts the matter to the public. Let’s hope coverage about the fellows riding their bikes on the back wheels only will help put officers on the road to deal with them. But I won’t hold my breath.
Noise is another issue not only by vehicles on the road but all sorts of music. A pal in the Warrens area said that on a night in the week music was blasting from at least 2 a.m. until about 3:45 a.m. Seemed to be an individual, karaoke, party or some such, though people would be going to work and children to school the next day. So much is getting out of order. I know the police are busy.
Anyway, looking at news elsewhere, things here could be worse. Of course, they could also be a lot better but I have to remain grateful and optimistic even in the face of adversity.

Some ministers of religion have said a resounding no to same-sex marriages being performed in Barbados. Do you agree?
