The spoilers of Christmas

I HAVE BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTED at the music produced by Caribbean folks this Christmas season.
There is nothing wrong with changing carols to dub, calypso, reggae, spouge or any other Caribbean beat, but the words must make scriptural and gospel sense. And very often they don’t.
To make matters worse, DJs and radio personnel get into the act by playing the really bad lyrics. Apart from playing this music, they also make some foolish comments.
My first reaction is to think that most of the writers, singers and radio operatives do not have a clear understanding of why we celebrate this season, and really do not know anything of Christ’s birth and are not trying to learn or understand as well.
All they need to do is a little research on the birth of Christ. (For a start, read the book of Luke)
When announcers have to work on an interview of some sportsman, TV personality or actor they do their research on them. Why can’t they do the research on Jesus’ birth as well?
The other thing is that no music should be played on the radio unless the on-air person understands what is being sung. Announcers should not play music simply because it is in the system.
Unfortunately, they play bad-sounding remakes of Christmas carols and hymns with incorrect lines and words that sometimes toss the real meaning of Christmas out the window.
Well known singers sing songs whose words do not make any sense. They often sing out of key and take nice old carols and put other words to them, thereby destroying the songs.
Read your Bible or find a Bible-believing church to attend to learn the Christmas story.
