This Church Of St Joseph

There hundred years it stood there;
Three hundred generations too.
Three hundred years of worship
For all the souls that have passed through.
Then enter the gates of St Joseph,
That are open wide for you;
Straight into the arms of Jesus,
That are waiting for you too.
Baptisms, deaths, confirmations, marriages,
And many miracles too.
For we know with Christ among us
There is nothing that God can’t do.
For the church is Christ’s own body;
And within it we must be,
For we are Christ’s own children,
And Him only we must see.
It’s a place where God is dwelling;
He is with you all the way.
This place by Christ’s own telling
Is His church on earth today.
For most of his work is already done;
And God sent his only Son
To redeem the world through His Holy One,
For it is through the church His work is done.
So come, let us watch and pray,
For a moment in history has come today.
It stands on its own for everyone to see.
A moment in time that affects you and me.
In Christ the body is the church,
With a host of people completing His work.
His work’s not yet finished, but still we must say:
A branch must fall from the tree today.
Then let us be happy and let us not ask
Why this moment in time should have happened today.
The angels are singing; the church is at rest.
For its work has been done; and it has done its best.
