Grandison, Pipe win 5K

DARIO GRANDISON and Carlie Pipe emerged winners when the Barbados Cancer Society/Sagicor/Globeathon 5-kilometre run/walk event was contested around Bridgetown.

The annual event, aimed at bringing greater focus and awareness to efforts in the fight against gynaecological cancers, attracted close to 3 000 runners and walkers who started and finished in Bay Street on Sunday.

Grandison, a well known former inter-school 5000 metres champion completed the route in 17.01 minutes while Pipe finished in 21:38 minutes.

Both runners collected cash prizes among their winnings and 21-year-old Grandison also qualified for an all-expenses paid trip to Jamaica to compete in the 2018 Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run. (PR)
