STUDENTS WHO FLOUT Government’s proposed cellphone regulations will not be treated with kid gloves.

And no child at a nursery, primary or secondary school will be allowed to have such a device or other form of mobile technology at their institution of learning without the written permission of their parent or guardian.

“Failure to heed the rules . . . may result in an alleged incident being referred to the police for investigation,” the Ministry of Education warned in the Mobile Technologies Use Policy For Nursery, Primary And Secondary Schools In Barbados that it plans to introduce.

“It should be noted that it is a criminal offence to use a mobile phone to menace, harass or offend another person. As such, if action as sanctioned by the principal is deemed ineffective, as with all such incidents, the school may consider it appropriate to involve the police.” (SC)
