AFTER BEING VERBALLY abused, the church that was trying to help a destitute family in Christ Church has now taken a step back to allow relatives and relevant social agencies who have now come forward to take charge.
However, Grace Showan of Grace Evangelistic Missions told the SATURDAY SUN that despite the backlash the church received for making a plea for help in the MIDWEEK NATION for five siblings between six and 18 years old living in a dilapidated house in Christ Church while their mother was a patient of the Psychiatric Hospital, it would continue to assist people in need in the future.
“The problem is that we have been abused. We have been cussed out and everything and I am not going to have my church go through that. There are times when organizations such as ours rise to the challenges, in a positive manner, that we are criticized and sometimes abused.
“People called and literally used abusive language in my ear. People will not like it but we have endured so much abuse. Things that we have put in place for the betterment of the children have been rejected. We have made agreements with agencies to look after the children and these agreements are not being respected,” she said.
