Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged a Grenadian national with a number of drug related offences. These offences were allegedly committed at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Friday, November 10.

Charged is 28-year-old David Timothy Junior Lewis. He was charged with unlawful possession of cocaine, unlawful possession of cocaine with intent to supply, trafficking cocaine and importation of cocaine.

Lewis arrived on the island from Trinidad and Tobago. A police canine dog on duty indicated the presence of drugs. A subsequent search by Custom Officials revealed four packages, each containing cocaine, concealed in false side compartments of Lewis’s suitcase. He was then arrested and charged for the offences.

The cocaine weighed about 1.6 kilogrammes and has an estimated street value of $80 000.

He appeared before Magistrate Graveney Bannister in the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on Saturday, November 11, and was remanded to prison.  He will reappear in the District ‘B’ Magistrates Court on Tuesday, November 14. (PR)
