A magistrate has raised concerns about the level of domestic violence he has seen so far for the week.
In the run-up to Christmas, the District “A” Magistrates’ Court has dealt with violence against a mother perpetrated by her adult son, another mother who was beaten by her teenaged son, an alleged case of violence on a grandmother done by the boy she had raised for the last 15 years, and other cases.
“What is wrong this Christmas Eve with these fellows?” Magistrate Douglas Frederick asked as he dealt with the latest matter yesterday that involved 17-year-old Thoriso Duane Ramorola, of 2nd Avenue, Greaves Land, Black Rock, St Michael.
Ramorola initially confessed, then changed his plea to not guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding grandmother Cecilia Barker on December 23. (HLE)
