The Ministry of Health is reassuring members of the public that Barbados’ beach water is safe.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry said that in response to queries about the safety of near shore water for recreational purposes, it could advise, in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Department, that the beaches were safe.

“Based on current information, the beaches of Barbados are safe. Testing to date has not shown any evidence of contaminated beach water,” the statement continued.

However, the Ministry of Health said its officials and those of the Environmental Protection Department would “continue routine testing of near shore water and will keep the public informed of any changes”. (BGIS)
