SOCIAL SCENE: Ambassadors receive honours

It was a grand affair when Barbados’ newly named cultural ambassadors received their instruments of office and official designations as cultural ambassadors last week.

Alison Hinds-Walcott, Stedson Red Plastic Bag Wiltshire and Anthony Mighty Gabby Carter were the toast of the evening during the ceremony at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, where they were hailed by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart for their commitment, dedication, strengths and focus.

Other artistes and entertainers were there to support the three veteran entertainers whom the Prime Minister lauded for “leveraging Barbados’ cultural assets” and “telling the story of Barbados for years to local regional and international audiences.”

It was especially poignant for Wiltshire, whose son Rosson performed in the 1688 Orchestra on his father’s big night. (GC)
