AN OVERGROWN sea grape tree in Ocean City, St Philip, hampered repair work on a burst main yesterday, causing Barbados Water Authority (BWA) workers on the scene to call for home and business owners to be educated on where water lines are located.
In ignorance, very often people planted trees above the water mains and the roots caused damage, one worker said.
Some property owners also paved driveways over the mains and whenever there was a leakage or other problem the repair crew had problems accessing the water line, the workers said.
They made the comments as the BWA carried out repairs to breaks on water lines in Ocean City, Farm Road and Duncans,St Philip.
