CENTRAL BANKS in the Caribbean need to consider how they can incorporate new technologies into their service delivery without exposing the banking system to “unacceptable” levels of risk.
This suggestion came yesterday from Central Bank of Barbados Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell who said the ultimate goal of new technology should always be to make central banks more efficient.
He made the comments during the opening of the 23rd Regional Central Banks’ Information Security Systems Conference at Hilton Barbados.
The five-day conference, which attracted about 25 information technology professionals from regional central banks, was held under the theme Opportunities, Risks And Threats Of New Technologies For Regional Central Banks. (NB)
