International guest acts El DeBarge and Darrin Henson have been pulled from the rebranded Barbados Music, Fashion and Film Awards (BMFFA) next weekend. Instead, local and regional acts have been chosen to headline the event.
Founder and director of the event, Ronnie Morris, used social media to reveal these changes.
“Due to the inclement and crippling grip of the economic downturn in Barbados, the committee of the upcoming BMFFA has decided to focus all resources and energies on Barbadian artistes and . . . artistes from within the region or those with Barbadian management.
“As a result, Darrin Henson and El DeBarge (USA) have been replaced in the lineup by several key Barbadian artistes, including chart-topping soca star Verseewild among others.”
Reigning Pic-O-De-Crop calypso monarch Ian Webster has also been added to the lineup. (LW)
