The date for the General Election in Barbados is anyone’s guess.
Even though the majority of the candidates are in place for all four political parties contesting the upcoming poll, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart is still keeping the date close to his chest.
Political scientist Peter Wickham said while he believed Government should call the election “as soon as humanly possible”, Barbados could be looking at an election any time towards the end of March or beyond.
Parliament is set to be dissolved on March 6, after which elections must be held within 90 days.
Wickham said the Prime Minister believed he had an entitlement to his full parliamentary term and intended to use it as wisely as he felt he needed to. (CM)
