‘Shocking’ contracts

Evidence has emerged of generous employment contracts and leases being concluded by the Freundel Stuart Administration, some within days of the May 24 general election.

The chief executive officer of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Dr Dexter James, had his contract worth $257 129.64 per annum plus a vehicle renewed for four years, some ten days before the poll. Yet, it was not due for renewal for another 18 months.

The chief executive officer of the National Cultural Foundation, Cranston Browne, had his contract valued nearly $142 000 per annum plus a vehicle renewed a month before the election, but nearly two years before it was due. (MB)
