Lengthy bus wait continues

Commuters in the Fairchild Street Bus Terminal and the Princess Alice Bus Terminal continue to cry out as Government searches for new Transport Board buses.

Ahead of Wednesday’s Emancipation Day bank holiday when the stores and businesses are closed, many people were in Bridgetown.

However, that exercise became one of frustration as would-be passengers were forced to endure lengthy waits for a bus home.

“One time, you could go in Town for a pair of stockings a morning and come home and go to a funeral in the evening, but you can’t do that anymore,” 70-year-old “Ms Williams” said as she waited for a bus at the Princess Alice Bus Terminal shortly after 2 p.m.

“That bus service does angry me and angry me, man,” she added.

The Transport Board has proven a troubled agency in the past and earlier this month, new chairman Gregory Nicholls reported there were 80 buses on the road, 99 buses short of the required complement. (AD)
