SOL apologises for pricing error

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs says management of SOL has accepted responsibility for a recent pricing error at its automart in Charles Rowe Bridge, St George.

The department, in a release yesterday, said that on receiving a report regarding an unusual pricing of sardines in oil and Grace corned beef at the outlet, it carried out an investigation last Thursday.

It showed that the unusual pricing resulted from an inadvertent administrative error made in the pricing system at SOL’s central office, and was not a deliberate act on the part of the proprietor of the franchise at Charles Rowe Bridge.

“The management of the central office of SOL has accepted responsibility for the error and has advised the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs that the prices . . . in question which were inadvertently retailed at $4.50 and $7.30, respectively, will be adjusted downwards,” the release stated.

“The management of SOL has apologised for the error made and the Department . . . is satisfied [it] will act in good faith and address the matter promptly. SOL has informed . . . that the customers . . . who were affected by the error will be reimbursed the difference in price paid for the items purchased.” (BGIS)
