NUPW warning

The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) will take action if the “first-in, last-out” policy is not used in terminating Government workers.

NUPW acting general secretary Delcia Burke on Monday urged its members who have been given their walking papers to come forward so the union could build a case if needed.

“We have concerns. That is why we were asking for the names, because if we had names we would be able to compare the times persons came in and we would be able to monitor the situation,” Burke told the NATION.

“Based on what this is, the Public Service Commission would be insufficient. So we would have to probably bring an injunction in court. When it comes to the statutory boards, we would be going to the tribunal if the decisions are not reversed,” she said. (AD)
