City United advance to finals

City United Celtics have set up a star-studded final with Warrens.

Former Premier League MVP Adrian Stewart scored 19 points, including nine during a decisive 19-9 second-quarter run, as City United advanced to basketball’s First Division finals by routing Hilton Barbados Warriors 70-47 on Saturday at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Playing in the deciding Game 3 of the semi-final series, Stewart put Celtics ahead for good with the series-clinching surge, where he scored his team’s last seven points of the first half including a huge triple.

City United were actually clinging to a tenuous 17-14 lead before Stewart started the decisive run that gave Celtics a big 52-38 advantage at the break. (JM)
