Progressive keeping the fire burning

Added 28 November 2018

WITH THE impasse between the Barbados Volleyball Association and five Division 1 men’s teams over, the squads returned to the courts on Monday night to battle in the second round of the Goddard Enterprises Limited league.

Former kings Winston Gittens Landscaping Progressive maintained their bid for the crown, keeping their unbeaten record intact by defeating the defending champions Cawmere 22-25, 28-26, 25-18, 25-15.  That pushed Progressive to 30 points from seven wins.

Only Omega XL Deacons can overhaul Progressive as they have lost just one game in five matches to hold 19 points. On Monday, Deacons stopped a plucky Foundation United 25-16, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20.  Foundation remain in the cellar with six points, one fewer than their seven losses.

Chargers, who are out of the running for the crown after suffering three defeats, made light work of All Stars, dismissing them 25-16, 26-24, 25-21.  Chargers are 2-3 with 11 points while All Stars are 2-5 with 11 points also. (KB)
