Barbados ‘safe’

Bajans may be worried about rising crime and violence at home, but if some researchers in the United Kingdom are accurate in their assessment, Barbados is on the list of the safest places in the world to go for a holiday.

The researchers Which? Travel – whose work was published in a report by the Daily Mail of London and Ireland. They looked at everything from crime, the risks of natural disasters and existing health conditions, to the possibility of terrorists striking favourite spots.

They ranked Barbados, celebrating its 52nd anniversary of Independence today, in the world’s top 10 when it came to safety.

The island was given a safety index score of 5.6 while Iceland, considered the world’s safest place, had a score of 6.6 and a 1.54 per cent chance of being hit by a natural disaster. Barbados had a 1.21 per cent chance of being adversely affected. (TB)
