The days of sharing the Wildey Gymnasium seem to be coming to an end as Barbados could see the construction of a new multipurpose sports facility as soon as 2021.

Minister of Sports John King dropped the hint while addressing the matter of the abandonment of the four-nation netball Test series because of the unavailability of the Gymnasium.

“It’s not what can be done, it’s what’s going to be done in the future and one of the things we’re looking at is improving infrastructure across the country. Now this is going to be in steps but we’re already in negotiations with partners about building out things that we need,” said King.

“For instance, when we start to get the development of the National Stadium, there will be another facility that can facilitate volleyball, netball and all that sort of stuff. That is already in the pipeline. (JM)
