Cruise visitors blue

It was the Boxing Day blues for some cruise ship visitors who expressed disappointment and frustration at seeing a near-deserted Bridgetown on Wednesday.

Four cruise ships – Caribbean Princess, Carnival Fascination, Norwegian Dawn and Prinsendam – bringing in thousands of passengers were in port, but only three stores were open – Cave Shepherd, The Royal Shop and Milano Diamond Gallery.

Wanda Rodriguez, who came with her family from Puerto Rico, said while she was happy to be in Barbados, she was not pleased that many of the shops were shut.

“It’s a little bit disappointing because we didn’t know ahead that everything was closed. We wanted to go to the Caves and they were full, but at least what we’ve seen is pretty. Everyone is very nice so . . . but it would have been better if everything was opened,” she said. (RA)
