Children with special needs got the royal treatment yesterday as they enjoyed a day of fun and games on the grounds of Ilaro Court.
Close to 300 children attended the 15th annual Special Day For Special Children hosted by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Barbados.
Chairperson of the organizing committee, Ashlee Cox, said it was a time for parents to relax, children to “go crazy” and for JCI members and other volunteers to serve them.
“We want to make sure they leave here with a smile on their faces,” president Kevin Hinds added.
“Children within the disabled community are segregated in many ways, they are usually made to feel like they are less than a person and this is a day [where] they are elevated.”
The children enjoyed games, face painting, music, food and drinks, a jumping tent and horseback riding. (LK)
