IT IS OVER – at least the public aspect of the Commission of Inquiry into The Alexandra Secondary School’s industrial dispute which started July 4.
Senior counsel for the commission, Milton Pierce, told those present at the end of the day’s hearing at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex that yesterday marked the end of oral evidence and public sessions of the inquiry.
He said a day had been set aside for addresses by counsel. That day is tomorrow, from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and each lawyer will address sole Commissioner Frederick Waterman.
The commission’s counsel Pierce and Michael Yearwood, legal representative of the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU), Hal Gollop, lawyer for The Alexandra School’s board of management Guyson Mayers, and principal Jeff Broomes’ attorneys Vernon O. Smith, QC, and Cecil McCarthy, QC, will each address the commissioner for approximately one hour.
