Minors’ probe

The Child Care Board (CCB) has brought two cases against a local medical practitioner.

The Nation was reliably informed that the cases involved allegations of misconduct by the doctor with two girls, both minors, who are related to him.

Reports indicate that the cases arose after one of the girls, a secondary school student, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for examination sometime last July. The child apparently made certain statements about her medical condition which sparked an investigation by the police.

The matter was then handed over to the CCB which filed separate cases against the doctor in the Supreme Court to have the children removed from his custody.

Court documents obtained by the Nation showed the case was heard by a High Court judge on September 8, 2018 in the Civil Court.

Yesterday, CCB chairman Catherine Jordan confirmed the situation but told this newspaper she could not provide any details about the case because it involved minors. (NationNews Investigative Team)
