Issue of life support back in spotlight

The death of a young visitor hospitalised here has some Barbadians questioning what regulations apply regarding any decisions to remove medical patients from life support.

It was last Friday when a woman, describing herself as an English visitor, took to social media to declare that health officials at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) had barred her from removing her eight-year-old son from life support.

The mother said she had been told that her son was brain dead and there was zero per cent chance of that status changing.

However, the parents were advised his life support would not be turned off.  (Nation News)
