Government is offering residents who are unemployed, as a result of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, another training opportunity.

According to a statement from Government, the Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership Relations has joined forces with the Commonwealth of Learning to implement the Coursera Workforce Recovery Programme.

The initiative will offer 1 500 unemployed people the chance to enrol in training courses of their choice. Coursera’s website will provide participants access to over 4 000 courses and 400 specialisations offered through 200 recognised and accredited international institutions. The courses are free and must be completed during the period August 31 to December 31, 2020.

Certificates will be awarded upon completion of all courses.

Interested people must register through the ministry’s website www.labour.gov.bb, for consideration by Coursera. The deadline for registration is Thursday, August 20. Further information can be found on the website of the Barbados Government Information Service at www.gisbarbados.gov.bb. (BGIS)
