The team of president Hadley Byer, secretary Trenton Weekes, Phillip Weekes and Bobby Edghill emerged winners when the Barbados Golf Association (BGA) staged its annual fund-raising tournament on Friday at the Barbados Golf Club.
The annual event to raise funds for national junior players to assist their participation in regional and international tournaments attracted several of the island’s top players as well as scores of golf-playing business executives.
The winners returned a combined net score of 20 under-par over 18 holes.
Second were LIME, comprising Andrew Pitt, Alex McDonald, Andrew Linton and Patrick Hinkson, with a combined 18-under par.
The Simpson Motors team of Teddy Grell, Dennis Hammond, Molly Foster and Bruce Tudor also shot 18-under par but were adjudged third on the count-back system.
Eighteen four-member teams, all backed by corporate sponsors, took part in the event which featured a shotgun start and a scoring system which recorded the best three nett scores.
BGA president Hadley Byer thanked the players for supporting the fund-raising tournament and the efforts of the association in these economically challenging times.
Some of the funds, he said, would be used to send a six-member Barbados team to the Caribbean Junior Championships in the Cayman Islands from July 1 to 6. (BB)
