BARBADOS’ BOXERS aren’t the only ones who have been sent packing.
Tunisian pugilist Wided Younsi has been suspended, disqualified and sent home from the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships after admitting to boxing in a professional fight.
Despite the confession, Younsi signed a written statement to confirm that the Tunisia boxing federation had not been aware of her participation.
Her victory over Ireland’s Sinead Kavanagh first round of their 75 kg bout has since been annulled, thus advancing the Irish National Champion to a quarterfinal showdown with China’s Li Jinzi. (PR/JM)
