The first Bajan tennis player to ever appear in an Olympic Games will get the ball rolling at approximately 1 p.m. today when Darian King takes Court Three for his historic opening round match against American Steve Johnson at the Olympic Tennis Centre.
He’ll be one of two Barbadians in action today, with the teenaged Alex Sobers also making his big Summer Games debut in the pool around the same time for the start of the men’s 400 metres freestyle.
But while the stage may not be familiar, King’s first round opponent most definitely will be. (JM)
