Loopers stun BUT

Russell Maxwell and Stephen Payne defied the odds, turning into a two-man wrecking crew as Fast Loopers “B” pulled off a 3-1 victory over the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) on Tuesday night at the Table Tennis Centre, Nursery Drive, St Michael.
With only two players turning out for the Loopers, BUT would have been optimistic about their chances in the final set of matches in the first round of the Barbados Olympic Association’s Division 2 table tennis club competition.
Theodore Gill benefited from the limited roster with a walkover but none of his BUT teammates could cope with the youngsters on the table.
Maxwell was in particularly dominant mood, taking out Romel Carter 8-11, 11-2, 11-9, 11-8 and Keon Alleyne 11-7, 11-4, 11-7.
Payne gave excellent support, downing Alleyne 13-11, 11-5, 11-3. (PH)
