Chavez sends tribute

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Commander Hugo Chávez, in the name of the Venezuelan people expresses his sincerest words of condolence to the people and Government of Barbados, on the occasion of the passing of Prime Minister David Thompson on October 23, 2010.
Prime Minister David Thompson was a distinguished political leader and public servant, who throughout his career, occupied various positions in the service of the people of Barbados.
The Venezuelan people and government reiterate their feelings of brotherhood with the people and government of Barbados and express their solidarity at this exceptionally sad moment in their history.
