Areas in the Pine, Wildey and Collymore Rock, St Michael, were without electricity briefly yesterday morning after a Barbados Light & Power (BL&P) pole caught fire, fell and damaged the distribution transformer at 2nd Avenue, Pine Plantation Road.
The incident occurred about 7:30 a.m. but electricity was restored about 8:45 a.m.
Customers in 2nd Avenue, Pine Plantation Road, whose service was also affected by the damaged transformer, had their electricity restored by 3:30 p.m.
A safety and environmental officer from BL&P also responded to the incident to address any safety concerns related to oil from the damaged transformer.
The incident caused traffic congestion during the morning, resulting in motorists having to divert to alternative routes.
The incident is being investigated by BL&P and by LIME.
