“A GOOD IDEA”. That’s how political analyst Peter Wickham described Opposition Leader Mia Mottley’s plan to canvass public opinion through a petition and lead a vote of no-confidence in Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler.
Stating that the vote of no-confidence was not a surprise, Wickham called it “a good idea strategically”, but he was more impressed with the idea of a public petition.
The pollster, who is head of the Caribbean Development Research Services (CADRES), added that even if the Opposition Barbados Labour Party did not achieve success via the no-confidence motion in Parliament, “if you succeed in the public domain you can have an expression of public displeasure”.
“She (Mottley) must realize that the public is chomping at the bit [and] disapprove at the way the economy is being managed,” Wickham added.
