Water rage

THE BARBADOS WATER AUTHORITY (BWA) is launching an investigation into why one of its tankers remained parked at its Pine headquarters while scores of families in the north of the island experienced dry taps yesterday.

DAILY NATION investigations revealed that one of the newest additions to the BWA fleet sat idle while residents of Brevitor Hall South, St Peter, Mose Bottom and Hillaby in St Andrew, and Orange Hill in St James were crying out for water tankers to be deployed to their areas.

When contacted, BWA corporate communications officer Joy-Ann Haigh said the responsibility for the distribution and operation of the tanker network fell under acting manager of engineering Stephen Lindo.

She said when the BWA was made aware of the situation early yesterday, efforts were made to notify Lindo but he couldn’t be contacted and only received the correspondence later in the day.(LK/HLE)
