BWU champs start well

Defending champions Brittons Hill Combined shocked former champions A&A Connections when the latter returned to the Barbados Workers’ Union Netball Competition last Monday night at the Netball Stadium.
Brittons Hill won the match 55-49 to get their title defence underway after leading all quarters 15-12, 27-22 and 42-36.
Former national captain Latonia Blackman led Brittons Hill with 33 goals from 37 attempts at goal attack and Kimberley Brathwaite gave solid support at goal shooter with 22 from 30.
A&A’s Lydia Bishop led all scorers with 39 goals from 46 attempts. Renee Rudder scored nine and Joyann Cooke one in the loss.
The Under-21 Squad also opened the tournament with a 50-19 hammering of Remii Ballers in the Sir Roy Trotman Zone.
