NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL (NSC) coaches yesterday staged a protest at the start of the semi-finals of the National Primary Schools’ Athletics Championships (NAPSAC).

As the clock struck 10 a.m., coaches scheduled to perform officiating duties at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex took up a different position on the centre of the football field, registering their dissatisfaction over the non-appointment of temporary coaches within their ranks.

As a result, the first two races of the day were run with no hand timekeepers or place-recording official by the finish line.

On Tuesday, the coaches held a closed-door meeting with acting deputy general secretary Delcia Burke of the National Union of Public Workers at the Dalkeith headquarters, and agreed “it was time to send a clear message to NSC officials”. (RA)
