Primary schools tennis plan unveiled

PLANS?ARE?ON COURSE to unearth Barbados’ next tennis star.
And 60 students from the Blackman And Gollop, Grantley Prescod and Luther Thorne Memorial Primary Schools will have the first opportunity to showcase their talents.
In a Press conference at the Barbados Tennis Centre yesterday, it was revealed that the United States Embassy, in collaboration with the Barbados Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) and the National Sports Council (NSC), has launched a youth tennis programme which will introduce the game to students at the primary school level.
Patricia Murray, vice-president of the Lawn Tennis Association, said the organization was responsible for the development of the game in Barbados and starting the game at the primary school level was a step in the right direction.
