Late 2000s dig deep for victory

SEEMS the best team in Kolij just also happens to be its current one.

Joel Hunte had 18 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter including the go-ahead score and a game-sealing basket, leading the “Late 2000s” to a 90-87 comeback thriller over the “Early 2000s” in Saturday’s final of the Clash Of The Decade Basketball Tournament.

It was the fitting climax to Harrison College’s second old scholars tourney at Crumpton Street, with the current school side getting revenge for the humbling double-digit loss in last season’s title game.

Yet they looked likely to lose by a bigger margin this time, having fallen behind by as many as 20 (50-30) in the first half while struggling to contain the defending champs’ Big Three of Aamir Morris, Rahiim Gibbons and Saeed Norville.
