ALTHOUGH the second day of the Frutee-sponsored ROAR Championships got off to a wet start at the Garfield Sobers Raceway, Chris Wadman posted a well deserved victory in the first race of the 1:8 “Modified” Off Road class.Wadman, operating his Wadman Brothers-sponsored Team Xray XB 808, kept a hard-charging Scott Foster, with his Plastic Repair Centre/Wild Life Reserve sponsored Hot Bodies D8 Buggy, at bay and forced him to settle for second place.Matthew Whitney placed third with his Whitney’s Trucking sponsored Mugen MBX 6.In the second race, Wadman again came under serious pressure from Foster, but this time he was able to cross the finish line a mere five seconds ahead of Foster while Ryan “The Chef” Hill held on for third position.The final race in this class proved the most exciting for the day, as Wadman and Foster went “wheel to wheel” for the entire race, constantly exchanging the lead until Foster’s buggy cut out after he stopped to refuel and stalled exiting the pit lane. This gave Wadman a little breathing room and also some distance between Foster and himself, which the latter was never able to regain. Hill again placed third.Sunday’s performance puts Wadman ahead on points with 58, while Foster is second with 50 and Hill third on 32.In the 1:8 ‘Open” Off Road class, newcomer Kirk Marshall, at the controls of the Wadman Brothers sponsored Team O’Donnell Z01B buggy, made a brilliant start on debut, by winning his first race.Marshall surprised the likes of Luke Stuart, with his Natural Medicinals Inc. sponsored Team Lost 8ight, who never expected him to perform so well. Stuart struggled to hold on for second position from Austin Garner in his Digitally Printed Ideas sponsored Mugen MBX 5.Stuart, however, recovered from his shock in the first race, to win the other two races while Garner placed second in both to lead the points standings with 37 from Richard Gamble (32) and Stuart (30). The third day of racing will be on August 8 at the Sir Garfield Sobers Raceway from 2 p.m. (PR/EZS)
