‘RED’ suit?

The Barbados Government could soon be faced with legal action from REDjet.
Robbie Burns, REDjet’s founder and business development director, revealed the airline had instructed its attorney to explore all options to sue Government for reneging on its promise to support it.
His revelation came within two hours of Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler’s clear-the-air statement on REDjet in the House of Assembly during his wrap-up in the 2012 Financial Statement And Budgetary Proposals on Tuesday night.
Sinckler said it was not true to say he or anyone in Government had “misled REDjet or reneged on any promise to lend financial assistance to that company”.
The minister added that Government, having given potentially millions of dollars in concessions to REDjet upfront, still made efforts to get the airline through an early and difficult financial period; but in the end the company did not have enough of its own private capital to survive.
