ESCAPE AT THE GAP HOTEL may be closing its doors, but it could not elude bailiffs who turned up yesterday morning to levy on all its contents as a result of close to $2 million in rent arrears.
Five bailiffs associated with Alleyne’s Bailiff Services visited the hotel, which has been operating at St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church, for about 12 years, and went from room to room diligently taking an inventory of all of its property.
The operation was conducted in the presence of several tourists, who were spotted lounging around the hotel seemingly oblivious of what was going on.
Barry Gale, QC, who is representing Debdor Company Ltd, the landlords of the hotel, told the DAILY?NATION?yesterday that Ludo Marcello, the owner of Escape, owed close to $2 million in rent for over three years. (MB)
