ST LAWRENCE GAP was a carnival destination when 100 plus British travel agents sampled a piece of Barbados’ Crop-Over yesterday afternoon.
The agents who came from travel agencies across Britain paraded the entire stretch of the entertainment gap as they participated in a mini carnival which was organised by the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA).
Through an incentive promotion, called Gimme 5 And Fly which was sponsored by British Airways, the agents were rewarded the opportunity to come to Barbados and experience the tourism product firsthand, after they sold “more than five packages” to the island.
In a band which was divided into four sections, the agents were decked in costumes designed by themselves and prominent band leader Gwyneth Squires. They danced to a number of local and regional calypso and soca songs.
