KYLE HOPE hit an unbeaten half-century and with his brother Shai, who was not out on 34, shared in an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 91 to lift Pickwick’s hopes of overtaking the Guardian General Barbados Youth’s first innings total of 288.
At the close of the second day, Pickwick were replying strongly at 105 for two after the loss of two early wickets. Kyle, the older of the two, struck one six and three fours in his 51 not out, while Shai in his supportive role only managed one boundary.
Earlier, the schoolboys, on resuming from their overweek score of 235 for five with wicketkeeper Mario Rampersaud on six, and Kemar Brathwaite on 15, were quickly in trouble when they lost two wickets without adding to the score.
Left arm fast bowler Adiko Collymore, in his first over, removed Rampersaud and also bowled Marques Clarke with the final delivery of that over.
The Youth were able to reach their total due to Brathwaite’s laborious unbeaten 31 that lasted 134 balls. Jomel Warrican helped prop up the innings with 23 before he was run out. Collymore and Rasheed Edwin took two wickets each.
