Embrace the Holy Spirit!

Cheryl Harewood,

“Embrace the person of the Holy Spirit, for He is the source of the power of God. Get back to Him and do not ignore Him. Cleave to Him, for this is His dispensation and time.” Speaking to just over 100 specially invited guests at the Hilton Barbados last Monday evening, world-renowned television evangelist Pastor Benny Hinn, who was making an unannounced call on the island, urged those present to recognize the Holy Spirit as the one who lives in their hearts and pleaded with them to acknowledge that the church has no power without the presence of the Holy Spirit. In fact, according to Hinn, some churches today have no power. They merely entertain their members because there is no “move of God” within their assemblies. “Right now we need the Holy Spirit in our homes, assemblies and fellowships. No one can overcome sin without the Holy Spirit. Only He can set you free. If you do not get back to the Holy Spirit, you will die,” he warned. Hinn added: “Seeing the Holy Spirit as a person makes the difference in our lives. He is the one in the earth today [because Jesus is seated at the right hand of God].” Saying that “the greatest sin [anyone can commit] against the Holy Spirit is when we ignore and treat Him as though He does not exist,” Hinn stressed: “We need the Holy Spirit today more than ever. The Holy Spirit is like Jesus because He is the Spirit of Jesus and Jehovah God. The Holy Spirit is God Almighty. “When you see the Holy Spirit as God, you’ll treat Him like God. Praise and worship are due to Him. We need to praise, honour and worship Him as equal with the Father and the Son.” Hinn also explained that “the Holy Spirit is a person with intellect; one who knows the deep things of God; has emotions, can feel love as a person, and one who gives us the knowledge we possess”. “When you see the Trinity, you see God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit – not three gods but one God,” he noted. While mankind “is created in the image of God,” he said, “angels on the other hand cannot love, have no personality and possess no soul. “Angels are spirits, but we all have a soul which enables us to think and feel. We are the light of the world; the spirit of man is pure light; the spirit man is the real you. When you are born again, the Holy Spirit joins Himself to you.” Hinn said God the Father was active in the world throughout the Old Testament before Jesus [who was from the beginning] came in the form of flesh. The Holy Spirit, he added, now manifests the presence of God to humanity.  “Jesus is not in your heart. The Spirit of Jesus is,” he disclosed. The United States-based preacher told the congregation they must choose between the Holy Spirit and “the evil spirit” and decide whom they would allow to operate in their lives. During the course of the three-hour meeting, he shared on various church doctrines, his personal life, and through the work of the Holy Spirit, healed some who were sick. He also disclosed plans to host a crusade in Barbados in January 2014.
